The Marketing Executives Networking Group (MENG), an organisation of almost 1,700 leading marketers, issued its first annual survey of top marketing trends for 2008.
The survey of its members focused on top marketing concepts, buzz words, global areas of opportunity and targeted customer demographics, as well as the books that marketers look to for inspiration and growth.
Some 60 per cent of marketers rated marketing basics as a very important key area, while search engine optimisation was cited as crucial by 42 per cent of respondents.
Green marketing was cited by 32 per cent of marketers as another emerging concept and was also identified as the trendiest marketing buzzword.
Some 77 per cent of marketers reported that their companies do not off-shore any part of their marketing operations.
"Senior marketers are facing an increasingly complex world with new technologies and new market segments rising to the fore," said Chandra Chaterji, a member of the MENG board of directors.
