UK advertisers spend more money per person on internet advertising than any other country, new statistics reveal.
A report by Ofcom found that advertisers are spending £33 per person on internet advertising in the UK - a figure that is double the amount spent by French, German and Italian advertisers combined.
The findings also indicated that for the first time, advertisers are spending more money on online advertising than they are for magazine campaigns.
Online ad spending also made up for more than the total spending on outdoor, cinema and radio advertising combined.
Overall figures show that UK men and women use the internet equally but among 18 to 34-year-olds, 57 per cent of time spent on the internet is by women and 43 per cent by men.
Ed Richards, Ofcom chief executive, said: "The report shows that convergence, bundling and the move to digital communications is a powerful global phenomenon."
