Major postage savings can be achieved by the careful planning of mailings to take advantage of the Royal Mail's volume discount scheme - Mailsort. Marketscan's cost effective mailing service includes all bag labels and control reports required to meet the Royal Mail regulations for Mailsort discounts.
Mailsort is a Royal Mail postage discount scheme which can result in significant postage savings for qualifying mailings. There are three basic levels of service within the most commonly used scheme (known as Mailsort 1400), with the greatest discounts attached to Mailsort 3.
Presstream 1 and 2 offer similar facilities for periodicals.
The basis of Mailsort is the postcode which is used to direct items attracting maximum discount to final destination Royal Mail Delivery Offices (Direct Selections) and where this is not possible to intermediate sorting offices (Residue Selections) for a lower discount.
To qualify for Mailsort, your mailing must contain at least 4000 letters (2000 if items are for delivery within the same postcode area in which they were posted) or 1000 packets.
The pricing structure allows you to pay for the exact weight of your items. Savings vary according to the type of Mailsort you use. However, as an example of the saving you could make, we recently carried out a mailing of 6449 items for a London-based Recruitment Agency, each weighing 60 grams and made a saving of £309 from a standard fee of £1,354.
Yes - at least 90% of the list must be fully postcoded with a Mailsort code assigned to each address. It is this code which is used to sort the mailing into the required sequence for subsequent bundling and bagging. All bags must be labelled and the whole mailing supported by a report in a Royal Mail approved format. Marketscan provides all necessary labels and reports and can assist with the postcoding and mailsort coding of addresses as required.
